Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
